Welcome back guys, today on Art of the Titles, I will be looking at the movie Gone Girl’s opening scene. 

What titles are displayed during the opening sequence?

The movie shows multiple examples of titles. To be exact it shows the studio, actors, casting director, sound designer, music creator, costume designer, film editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producers, and director.


What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The opening sequence prioritizes images related to the main characters, primarily focusing on the mysterious disappearance. It includes shots of the crime scene, missing posters, and a character walking back into his home.   


How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the opening sequence?

The film establishes a feeling of suspense through its atmospheric visuals, ominous music, and the immediate introduction of a central mystery. The emphasis on suspenseful imagery and the unsettling tone helps to make a mystery of of the characters disappearance, creating anticipation.
